PlayStation Exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn Removed from PS Plus
The Horizon’s legacy is coming to an end. Horizon: Zero Dawn, which was launched in 2017 by Sony, is set to be removed from the PlayStation Plus by the end of May. The fans have reacted strongly in accordance with this news.
Horizon: Zero Dawn, first game of Horizon Series, had an all-time peak of 56,557 players according to the Stream Database but why is such a popular game going from PlayStation Plus’ Extra Catalog?
Rumors suggest that Sony is developing a remastered version of Horizon: Zero Dawn for release on the PS5. Fans, on reddit, are referring to this act as a 'revenue strategy' by Sony for the users to buy a new video game.
After the announcement, there were queries raised about the necessity of a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn, considering that the PS4 game is already playable on PS5 with a 4K, 60 frames per second enhancement. However, it's important to acknowledge Sony's track record with game remasters, as they have recently launched remasters of Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man, a remake of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part I, and a remastered edition of The Last of Us Part II.
Following Zero Dawn, developer Guerrilla Games released a sequel, Horizon: Forbidden West in 2022 which continues Aloy’s story. The developer has disclosed that they are in the process of planning a third game, spurred by the open-ended conclusion of the second game.
